Storyline
The film opens with Professor Henry Raimond, a 59-year-old Classical literature scholar, standing before his empty home filled with memories of his late wife. Overwhelmed by grief, he decides to take a sabbatical year in Lisboa, Portugal, hoping to escape the shadows of his past. Meanwhile, his vivacious student, Clara, a 21-year-old with striking features and a bright spirit, struggles with her own feelings for him, which she has kept hidden.
As Henry explores the historic streets of Lisbon, from the soulful alleys of Alfama to the majestic aqueduct, Clara follows him, determined to reach out and connect. Their paths finally collide when Clara finds Henry lost in thought at a scenic overlook. Initially hesitant, Henry's walls begin to crumble as Clara's youthful exuberance and curiosity bring warmth back into his heart.
Flashbacks reveal Henry's complex relationship with his mother, who appears to him in visions during Henry's promenade all around Lisboa, prompting profound conversations about love, loss, and the passage of time. With every shared moment, from riding the iconic tram to sharing meals at local cafés, with his dead mother, that appear to him in a younger version of herself, Henry engage a deep path to explore himself as never before and with the strange help of his mother that look to be totally informed about his son life and even better then him about Clara love, Henry finally let him to be drawn to Clara in a way he should never expected. Their relationship evolves from student-teacher to something deeper, culminating in a passionate encounter under the stars on a terrace of Alfama overlooking the city of Lisboa.
In the end, as Henry learns to embrace love again, he must confront the memories of his past while forging a new future with Clara, who symbolizes hope and renewal in his life.
